#MuddyBoots: Academic Motherhood in the Field – March 2018

Lisa, Nicolle, and Maggie meet with Nuevo Milenio community members to discuss their experiences with land tenure and payments for forest conservation. Photo credit: Javier Rodriguez

This piece was written for publication on the Geography department’s website at the University of Wisconsin-Madison (my post-graduate alma mater).  In honor of women’s month, the department wanted to feature a story about academic mothers, and decided on the story of our Ecuador research team.  We are an all-female research team, and three of us have conducted fieldwork in the Ecuadorian Amazon with our children in tow.  You can read this piece and see more photos here.
